2008 Elections: Not Another Dim Bulb!

The last dim bulb we elected, seven years ago, managed to start two wars in two distant lands, alienate a world that had turned to us with empathy and fellow-feeling, lied, lied, lied about everything, and has now officially killed more Americans than Osama bin Laden.

We need to be very careful about the next person who can get us in trouble. Nearly 4,000 dead Americans, and some 40,000 wounded and maimed, over 1 million dead Iraqis, 4-5 million refugees, a broken economy, broken Army, broken National Guard, broken disaster recovery, broken FEC, FCC, and other federal agencies from the Department of Justice to the FDA - let's not do it again, OK folks? We just can't afford it.

Who are we talking about? Why, Mike "Teh Huckster" Huckabee, of course. We do understand that people of a religious bent might feel as if they can't support Giuliani, Romney (except for practising Mormons), or McCain. But if the alternative is Huckabee? Folks, either hold your nose and vote for one of the others, or sit out the election.

Because this dude doesn't know what he's talking about, half the time. Listen to this:
"we have more Pakistani illegals coming across our border than all other nationalities, except those immediately south of the border."
Say what? Does this man even know where Pakistan is?
A recent report from the Department of Homeland Security, however, concluded that, over all, illegal immigrants from the Philippines, India, Korea, China and Vietnam were all far more numerous than those from Pakistan.
From the NYT.

Later, speaking to MSNBC, he said,
the Pakistani government “does not have enough control of those eastern borders near Afghanistan to be able go after the terrorists.”
Excuse me? Look it up on a map before opening mouth and inserting foot, dude. Afghanistan is to the WEST of Pakistan, not the east.

Then, in Orlando, he tells a crowd that he offers his
“apologies for what has happened in Pakistan.”
Either he knows something the rest of us don't, or he is pulling stuff out of his butt. His aides later explained that he meant to say "sympathies."

If he needs interpreters to explain every other thing he says, we're looking at a replay of the last seven years of the Idiot-in-Chief. And we really, really cannot afford that.
